XOP Networks, Inc., a developer of advanced Audio Conference Bridges, announced today the availability of a License Manager for its Digital Collaboration Bridge and Universal Services Node products. A License Manager allows an end user to ‘check-out’ and ‘check-in’ a number of Audio Conference ports dynamically.
Traditionally, companies purchase additional conferencing ports to accommodate capacity surges. Yet, this additional capacity often leads to non-optimum use of CapEx and OpEx dollars, especially when the ports are not in use during normal operations. The XOP Networks’ License Manager effectively addresses the capacity challenge by serving as a central repository of pooled conference ports.
XOP Networks’ customers are now able to deploy a License Manager in a network with multiple XOP Networks conference bridges. All audio conferencing ports are initially loaded on the License Manager. Subtending conference bridges can then dynamically ‘check-out’ the number of ports as needed. At a later time, the bridges can then return or ‘check-in’ the ports that are not needed. This flexibility allows the bridges to expand or contract depending on usage needs and leads to the efficient use of available conference ports.
“Several of our customers deploy our equipment in load shared, high availability mode. With access to a License Manager, they now have an additional level of flexibility,” said David Trusty, chief technology officer for XOP Networks. “Ports can now be easily and quickly moved from a failed primary server to the backup secondary server while maintaining 100 percent of the installed capacity.”
